Child Safety Standards
Flare is a dating app for adults, operated by FLARE DATING LIMITED. Flare prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out those standards, how to report a breach of them, and what we do when we learn of one.
What is prohibited
Anything that sexually abuses or exploits a child is prohibited on Flare. That includes:
- sharing, requesting or linking to child sexual abuse material;
- sexualising anyone under 18, in words or images;
- grooming, or contacting a child for a sexual purpose;
- using Flare to arrange to meet a child.
Flare is for adults only
You must be 18 or older to use Flare. A date of birth that would make someone under 18 is refused, whether the profile is being created or edited. Every member must verify their identity before they can browse other members, be shown to them, or send a message. Flare's own test and app-review accounts are kept in a separate area of Flare: members are not shown them, and they are not shown members. No age check is perfect, so if you think someone on Flare is under 18, please report them.
How to report
In the app. Open the person's profile, or your conversation with them, and tap Report or block (on the website it also shows their name). Choose They appear to be under 18, or Inappropriate photos or content.
By email. Write to our child-safety lead at admin@myflaredating.com. Give the display name shown on the profile and describe what you saw and where. Please do not attach or forward the images themselves.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first. Flare is not an emergency service.
What we do
When we find, or are told about, child sexual abuse material on Flare, we:
- remove the content;
- suspend the account responsible; and
- report it to the Nigeria Police Force.
Child-safety contact
Our child-safety lead is Flare's designated point of contact for these standards, reachable at admin@myflaredating.com. For anything else, email support@myflaredating.com or see Support. These standards apply alongside our Terms of Service.
